(Bowling Green, KY) — The South Warren Spartans and Greenwood Gators faced off in the first round of the Girls 14th District Tournament at Bowling Green High School. The rivals split the season series, with South Warren winning the most recent contest, 57-50.
The Bowling Green Lady Purples earned their district championship berth after Warren Central’s forfeit.
The Spartans opened with a great defensive performance. At the end of the of the first quarter, South Warren held an 11-3 lead. McLaine Hudson led the Spartans with 6 points. Continuing the strong defense and ball movement the Spartans would end the score at halftime 22-9
The Gators would try to come back with Anzlee Hendrix scoring 12 points in the 2nd half, but McLaine Hudson and the Spartans stayed hot to finish the game.
The Gators were not successful at the free throw line and on defense tonight, which would lead to the loss. The Spartans took the win 56-41 and punched their ticket to Diddle Arena and the 14th District Championship.
