(Bowling Green, Ky) — The senior night festivities tipped off at South Warren with the Lady Spartans taking on the Lady Panthers of Russellville. This one seemed like it was gonna be a close, gritty game until South began to run away with it. A pair of Catherine Calvert 3’s and a Mclaine Hudson and one would spearhead a run leading to a 13 point Spartan lead.
The Lady Panthers had no answer for the Spartans’ ball movement and onslaught from three point land was the name of the second quarter. After a sequence that saw a big three from Ashley Overbay and a Mclaine Hudson transition lay, the flood gates would begin to open.
The South Warren defense gave Russellville fits leading to a commanding 48-16 lead heading into the half.
The second half was more of the same story as South Warren did not let up. The relentless effort on the defensive end paired with their pure dominance on the glass kept them firmly in the driver seat throughout the second half. Russellville had no answer for the three headed monster of Mclaine Hudson, Catherine Calvert, and Ashley Overbay.
The Spartans would cruise through the rest of the second half on their way to a dominant 69-39 win over Russellville. The Lady Spartans improve to 9-13 on the season and Russellvilles’s struggles this season continue as they go to 1-19 on the season. Catch the lady Spartans back in action this Friday as they take on the Greenwood Gators.
