(Bowling Green, Ky) — The South Warren Spartans bounced back from their loss to Bowling Green last Friday night as they defeated the Russellville Panthers to cap off the senior night festivities.
Russellville would get on the board first and keep it competitive for the first quarter, but the Panthers didn’t have an answer for Spartan senior Thad Hall who torched the Russellville defense for 14 first quarter points. Hall was the leading scorer through the first and accounted for 14 of the Spartans 23.
Ball movement, hounding defense, and a three point barrage created the recipe of success for the Spartans as they started to run away with it in the second quarter. Their hounding full court press left the Panthers unable to get the ball across halfcourt at times leading to easy transition buckets. A big Jamarion Gardner and one, Bryce Button three, and Thad Hall inbound steal and quick bucket boosted South Warren up 47-33 heading into the break.
The onslaught from beyond the arc would continue into the second half as they would flood Russellvile 70-47. The 3rd quarter was the Owen Shively show as he would score 9 in the quarter including a huge 3 from downtown.
Seniors Bryce Button, Thad Hall, Griffin Rardin, and Jarvis Jace would all check out of the game for the final time on senior night with 5:59 left to go as the Spartans had a comfortable 73-49 lead. The Spartans would cruise the rest of the way and take the win 90-63 on senior night and improve to 14-7 on the season. This was a great way for Coach Quarles and South Warren to bounce back from the loss to Bowling Green and get some needed momentum as they head into a district matchup with the Greenwood Gators this Friday in the Swamp.
