McAfee and Kirk Lead Warren Central in 70-30 Rout of Christian County

(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) Led by Robert (Ant) McAfee and Jarek Kirk, Warren Central secured its 16th win of the season, defeating Christian County 70-30 on Tuesday night on Tim Riley Court.
McAfee led the Dragons in the scoring effort with 24 points. He charted 16 of his 24 points in the second half alone. Kirk was the everything man for the Dragons notching a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double. He added four blocks and a pair of assists in the effort.
Both squads got off to a slow start before McAfee ignited the offense with a pair of threes to give the Dragons an 11-5 lead. Warren Central would lead 13-5 at the first quarter break. In the second quarter Kirk grabbed an offensive board and fed Armani Byrd for the three pushing the lead to double digits at 16-5. The Dragons would hold the Colonels to just four more points and would take a 25-9 lead into the halftime break. Warren Central gave up just three total field goals in the first half and connected on 10-of-28 in the first half.

McAfee and company would start the third off strong as the senior would connect on three more from beyond the arc as part of a 14-2 run that forced Christian County into a timeout with three minutes to play in the period with the Dragons in command 39-11. The Colonels would find some offense from Zyon Wharton and Zion Acree but still trail 47-19 heading into the final quarter.
Tom Johnson would connect from deep to start the fourth but the three point brigade would continue for the Dragons with McAfee and Dominique Anthony each hitting a pair from deep to pull ahead 59-24. Kirk then swatted one away and Anthony would corral the board and feed McAfee for his sixth three of the night.
Kirk would grab one more board and put one in off the glass for his final points of the night, leading 64-26. With just over two minutes to play fan favorites RaMaun North and Randal Hulbert would check in, firing up the already excited crowd. KJ Johnson would put the finishing touches on the win with a bucket and found Gavin Carter for the final basket of the night for the Dragons. Jayvontae Henderson would score the final bucket as Warren Central dribbled out the final seconds capping off a midweek, 70-30 victory over Christian County.
The Dragons will be back in action Friday night with a 14th district road matchup with Greenwood. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
