(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) — The Lady Toppers defeated Lee University 70-48 in their pre-season exhibition game Tuesday night in E. A. Diddle Arena. Senior Guard Alexis Mead led the way for WKU with 14 points and a 3-for-4 performance from deep.
A spooky Halloween theme highlighted the event as Hilltopper fans filled Diddle in some creative costumes. Lee University spooked those fans early in the game with an early lead, but a 16-2 run by the Lady Toppers would give them the lead at halftime.
WKU newcomer Zofia Telegdy, a transfer from Kansas University, showed how she will provide meaningful minutes for the Lady Tops this season with a 12-point performance alongside three rebounds and two blocks.
Telegdy extended the Lady Topper lead late in the second half with two made three-pointers to seal the win.
“We’ve worked on trying to get our turnovers down,” said Lady Topper Head Coach Greg Collins. “It’s effected our tempo a little bit in transition, and that’s okay right now because we’re in a learning process.”
The Lady Toppers will open their season on the road against Indiana State at 6 p.m. next Monday, Nov. 4. The game will be live on ESPN+.
