Health Officials are Recommending Contact Wearers to Switch to Glasses due to Covid-19
According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, officials are suggesting people who wear glasses to avoid contacts to lessen the risk of coronavirus. According to the CDC, this virus can easily spread through eyes when touching your face after touching a contaminated surface or object. The AAO is saying that the more you wear your glasses, the less often you touch your eyes when putting in and taking out contact lenses. AAO also states that wearing glasses is another source of protection as well.
If not able to make the switch from contacts to glasses, it is recommended to wash your hands before using contacts, minimizing contact with water in the shower or while swimming, and following doctor’s orders for wearing and disposing of contact lenses.
