CDC recommends shaving facial hair to protect from coronavirus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending men to minimize facial hair to fit within a facepiece respirator as part of coronavirus safety. According to the CDC, a respirator covers the nose and mouth to protect from any infectious particles, and facial hair could keep the exhalation valve from properly working. The infographic shows that styles like chevron mustaches and side whiskers are okay, but others such as beards and extended goatees could interfere with the respirator.
